From October 2019 until November 2022, I acted as a coach at Kung Fu Academy Lübeck (Germany) and trained children aged 4-12 twice a week. I also assisted in teaching adult classes.
The Kung Fu Academy Lübeck is a sport studio in which children and adults learn Wun Hop Kuen Do Kung Fu. Wun Hop Kuen Do Kung Fu consists of three aspects: self-defense, kickboxing and forms. Not only the sportive aspects are being taught, but also important values such as discipline, respect and fairness are being conveyed.
During my time as a coach, I was not only responsible for designing and implementing different training sessions but also for mentoring and supporting individual fighters in the sporting and mental field.
I really enjoy working with children. On the one hand, seeing their progress and development makes me very proud. On the other hand, even if you are the coach, you learn to see the world thorugh the children´s eyes and can learn a lot from them.
Of course, there are also challenges you have to deal with when working with children. For example: Even if you plan the sessions thoroughly, it does not always work out as planned. Sometimes you have to adapt to the children´s mood and modify the session spontaneously which can be hard at times but is always worth it.
Additionally, I acted as a tutor for younger students and helped them improve their grades in Latin during high school. Being a tutor, I empowered various methods to introduce them to the language and were able to increase their joy in learning Latin.
