Motivation
I believe that I am a person who is highly adaptable in difficult situations, dedicated and a quick learner. Through my work with children in a swim school for the past 5 years i have had to learn to be adaptable to the situation provided. When working with children it is impossible to fully predict how a day will go and while i can come in prepared i always need to be able to adapt to the individual needs of the children i am teaching. I a person who is dedicated to what i apply myself to. I am a person who when commit to a task, job or event i am always dedicated and try and give my all to each situation. Within my volunteer work i have learnt to become a quick learner. At each camp we attend we often a working in areas we have never worked on before. Only having a short amount of time to fulfil these role i have develped the ability to learn quickly on the job. areas i have taken on include; media, cooks, radio and cleaning
Experience
I have been a volunteer with an organisation Lord Somers Camp and Power House since 2018 running programs aimed to increase meaningful community engagement for at-risk or vulnerable groups within my community. Through this work i have been a group leader of people aged 4 years to 35 years. I have immensely enjoyed getting to interact with these participants making their time with us the most enjoyable time possible. Getting to meet and learn from so many different kids is always entertaining with no two days ever the same. The hardest challenge I have faced working this program was one working with a group of 15-18 year old who had recently migrated to Australia. The ability to engage this specific group of kids to participate in activities was highly challenging as the group had disengaged from the activities provided and required my fellow leaders and I to become highly adaptable to provide activities in which these young adults felt were age appropriate engaging and productive.
Expectations
I am expecting a fun summer getting to immerse into summer camp life pushing myself out of my comfort zone. I have wanted to work at a summer camp for a while and want to experience what many friends have described as an amazing experience that they made lots of friends and had many positive memories from. I see myself being either a camp counselor or a program area elated to swimming
